Despite getting in fairly late, I couldn’t sleep in in the
morning and got up early and enjoyed a morning relaxing in her hammock,
catching up on planning the next leg of this life journey, and enjoying an
amazing brunch cooked by both Christina and Tracey. Other activities of this
most relaxing day included walking up to Tracey’s school and meeting her
coworkers, doing a 30 minute power/cardio workout with Christina, doing laundry
(yay!!), avoiding tragedy with a small natural gas explosion, cooking an
amazing dinner, enjoying dinner with a couple bottles of wine and champagne,
and staying up talking until late into the night (before our 6am flight…).
With a couple of hours of sleep, we show up at the airport
to find an impressively long line to check into our flight (unsurprising at
this point). We waited in line for a solid 1.5hrs being entertained by the
absurdity of the process and a small child (<2yrs old) playing soccer with
his father. In fact, our check-in line moved so slowly that they ended up
delaying the take-off of the plane because of it. Mind you, this is the first
plane of the morning…I can’t imagine what the trickle down effects were. So,
arriving in Panama City, while I was just in time to catch my connection to Los
Angeles, Christina and Susan were not so lucky and completely missed their
connecting flight. Sigh. One last present from the transportation system of
Venezuela…
Considering the bottles of wine and the early flight, most
of my flights were spent leaning against the window, probably snoring, and
recovering from the epic journey that just happened…
